Christmas Night Jingle

Issue 005

Hello Tipsy Reelz Community,

Tipsy Reelz is a monthly email, sent on the first Thursday of each month.  It will include three movies from different genres, fun facts about the movies and some drinking game rules to go with them. We will also include where these movies are currently available for streaming. Please feel free to share these with your friends.

Four Christmases (2008) Fun Facts

  • Peter Billingsley, who played the main character Ralphie Parker in The Christmas Story (1983), plays the ticket agent at the airport.

  • Howard's house was built from scratch in the Shadow Hills area of southern California, with a reinforced roof that could stand the weight of the cast and the camera crew. Some of the crew were unaware of this, and were surprised when they went into the house to find it completely empty, something of which Seth Gordon is very proud.

  • During the filming of the dinner sequence, Reese Witherspoon was hit in the face with a ceramic plate and required five stitches, which delayed the shoot for three days.

GAME RULES!

  • Drink when Kate holds a baby.

  • Drink when there is an awkward moment.

  • Drink when “Brad” or “Kate” is said.

  • Drink when marriage is mentioned.

  • Drink when having children is mentioned.

As of publishing, Four Christmases is streaming on Hulu and MAX.

Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey (2020) Fun Facts

  • The snowball fight scene was filmed in the historic Elm Hill area of Norwich, UK. Over 80 local people, some of whom work in the shops and business converted for use in the film, were used as extras.

  • The location used for Gustafson's factory is the site of the largest operating rotative beam steam engine in the world. A YouTube video of the site can be found by searching on the term "The Biggest Operating Rotative Beam Steam Engine At Crossness." It is an engineering marvel.

  • All of the shops in Cobbleton are named after historical African American inventors.

GAME RULES!

  • Drink when anyone says “Jangle” or “Gustafson”.

  • Drink when a new song begins.

  • Drink when something is being fixed, tweaked, or invented.

  • Drink when the movie cuts back to the story being read.

Violent Night (2022) Fun Facts

  • The logo on the catering company can is called “Farkus and Dill” after the bullies in “A Christmas Story”.

  • The film starting in England makes sense, as time zones would allow Santa to already be on his rounds in the UK while it is afternoon in America when Trudy and her mom pick up her dad.

  • Scrooge asks Santa Claus "All right, who the hell are you really, huh? Some security guard who's watched too many action flicks?", which echoes Hans Gruber's question to John McClane in Die Hard (1988): "You know my name but who are you? Just another American who saw too many movies as a child?"

GAME RULES!

  • Drink when Santa eats or drinks.

  • Drink when Christmas Magic is seen or mentioned.

  • Drink when a gift is pulled out of Santa’s bag.

  • Drink when someone dies.

  • Drink when the thieves use their code names.

As of publishing, Violent Night is streaming on Prime Video.

Please play responsibly, know your limits, and don’t drink and drive. It’s ok if you cannot finish the game. Also feel free to drink a non-alcoholic drink, staying hydrated is a good time too!
