Hello Tipsy Reelz Community,

 

Tipsy Reelz is a monthly email, sent on the first Thursday of each month.  It will include three movies from different genres, fun facts about the movies and some drinking game rules to go with them. We will also include where these movies are currently available for streaming. Please feel free to share these with your friends.

21 Jump Street (2012) Fun Facts

  • Channing Tatum passed on the movie twice before Jonah Hill convinced him to take the role.

  • Jonah Hill lost over forty pounds for his role, because he and Channing Tatum were required to do several physically demanding stunts.

  • All original cast members from the 21 Jump Street (1987) television series have cameos in the film, except Richard Grieco and Dustin Nguyen. In one scene, the bad guys watch the original television series on television, and almost every shot shows Nguyen's character. Grieco and Nguyen later cameo in 22 Jump Street (2014).

Road House (1989) Fun Facts

  • Patrick Swayze hurt a knee during filming. He chose to make Ghost (1990) next because it was less strenuous, turning down the roles of Gabriel Cash in Tango & Cash (1989) and Mike Harrigan in Predator 2 (1990). Ghost (1990) was a big hit, "Tango & Cash" was a box office flop.

  • Marshall Teague told a story that he took his mother to the premiere of the movie. When the fight against Dalton happens and he says the line, "I used to F* guys like you in prison!" his mother jumped up and proudly shouted, "That's my boy!”

  • According to Sam Elliott, all of the actors did their own stunts, "I fucking got the shit kicked out of me for the entire film." They were all trained by Benny Urquidez, a holder of nine black belts in nine different disciplines.

Snowpiercer (2013) Fun Facts

  • Writer and director Bong Joon Ho had reservations about casting Chris Evans in the lead role, because of his muscular physique. He felt that as a resident of the extremely poverty-stricken tail section, Chris should not be especially physically fit. Costuming and careful camera angles kept Evans' physique from showing.

  • The drawings in the tail section of Snowpiercer were illustrated by Jean-Marc Rochette, the original comic artist of the graphic novel Le Transperceneige.

  • This is Bong Joon Ho's first English-language movie and filming was completed in 72 days.
