Twisters Hit Places
Issue 019
Hello Tipsy Reelz Community,
Tipsy Reelz is a monthly email, sent on the first Thursday of each month. It will include three movies from different genres, fun facts about the movies and some drinking game rules to go with them. We will also include where these movies are currently available for streaming. Please feel free to share these with your friends.

Twisters (2024) Fun Facts
In honoring the original Twister (1996) film, it was entirely shot on Kodak 35mm film on location in Oklahoma. (Lee Isaac) Chung said that a large part of the decision came from wanting to capture the natural, vibrant colors of the state.
Glen Powell's parents appear in this movie, sitting behind him and Daisy Edgar-Jones during the rodeo scene. According to Powell, his parents have appeared in all his movies since Spy Kids 3: Game Over (2003).
After delays caused by COVID-19 Pandemic, filming was halted in July 2023 due to 2023 Writer's Strike and could not resume filming until December. Because of this, major sequences were still being filmed in February 2024, just months before opening in July, and post-production teams were still working around the clock as late as two weeks before opening in theaters to make up for lost time.

Hit Man (2023) Fun Facts
The real-life Gary Johnson passed away early on in production and never got to see the film. Richard Linklater only talked to him on the phone, and never got to meet him in person.
The script originally had the story taking place in Houston, since the real-life Gary Johnson was based there. However, due to Texas tax credits and other financial elements, they weren't able to shoot the film in Texas. They instead chose to set the film in New Orleans.
Austin Amelio had already picked out his wardrobe for Jasper. He decided to research the part a bit further and went out in New Orleans' Bourbon Street to find the sketchiest person he could find - who just happened to be wearing almost the exact same wardrobe he had chosen.
GAME RULES!

Drink when someone shoots a gun.
Drink when Gary changes characters, gets into a new costume, or a new alias.

As of publishing, Hit Man is streaming on Netflix.

Trading Places (2003) Fun Facts
This was Ralph Bellamy's ninety-ninth film, and Don Ameche's forty-ninth. This was Eddie Murphy's second film, and he joked: "Between the three of us, we've made one hundred fifty movies!"
Ralph Bellamy (Randolph) and Don Ameche (Mortimer) make cameo appearances in Coming to America (1988) as the same characters; the two are now homeless, and Prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy) gives them a large amount of money to get them back off the streets.
In 2001, Eddie Murphy stated that the making of this film was the most fun he'd had on a set and that every film afterward felt like "work".
