Hello Tipsy Reelz Community,

Tipsy Reelz is a monthly email, sent on the first Thursday of each month.  It will include three movies from different genres, fun facts about the movies and some drinking game rules to go with them. We will also include where these movies are currently available for streaming. Please feel free to share these with your friends.

Copycat (1995) Fun Facts

• Years later, Sigourney Weaver would state that she was most proud of her work in this film. She worked hard to portray the mindset of an agoraphobic, and has regretted that the movie was lost in a shuffle of thrillers at the time and is not better remembered.

• Harry Connick Jr. was asked by director Jon Amiel to come up with a slang term for ladies' panties, which ended up as "squirrel covers," an expression he had heard his brother-in-law use.

• To prepare for their roles Harry Connick Jr. spent weeks watching documentaries on serial killers.. Holly Hunter hung out with several homicide detectives in downtown L.A. Sigourney Weaver consulted with leading forensic psychiatrist Park Dietz, who had interviewed serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.

A Good Old Fashioned Orgy (2011) Fun Facts

• The film was shot entirely on location with no sets or stages. Wilmington locals were used as extras for several scenes.

• The film was produced on a relatively modest budget of $5 million and grossed around $1.4 million.

• The parties that inspired the film are based on those thrown by co-director/writer Peter Huyck in and around his southern Californian home. These bashes have included Trekkie, pirate and jailbreak themes where Huyck and up to 100 guests take over venues and don costumes, from Star Trek gear to prison jumpsuits.

Novocaine (2025) Fun Facts

• “Jack had to rewire his brain so that he could get punched and not flinch," Olsen says. "Your whole life as an actor, you're told to sell the hit, and when you get punched, you flinch, you wince, you sell the pain. He had to work with our stunt coordinator, Stanimir Stamatov, to untrain himself from that.

• Cherry pie is both a plot point and a metaphor in this film. The movie itself was released to theaters on March 14th, 2025, which was "Pi Day".

• The stunt team went through and audited every single hit in the movie, and they transferred a lot of those head hits down into body hits. “We didn't want his face to be mashed potatoes by the midpoint of the movie.”
